FALSIFICATION OF SAFETY-RELATED DOCUMENTS, OBSTRUCTION AND RETALIATION

April 07, 2017 |  Investigative Summaries

On March 14, 2017, an Amtrak Assistant Division Engineer retired from his position following the release of our investigative report, which concluded that he improperly directed two subordinate supervisors to instruct their employees to falsify, sign, and backdate multiple safety-related job briefing forms. By doing so, it created the illusion that the briefings were documented on the dates indicated. In addition, we found that the Assistant Division Engineer gave false statements during our investigation and made threatening, retaliatory, and unprofessional comments against employees he believed were cooperating with the investigation.
