Engagement Memo-Monitoring of the Acela Express 2021 Program

This is to inform you that we are initiating work to monitor Amtrak’s (the company’s) Acela Express 2021 Program. This program represents the largest single investment in the history of the company. The successful completion of the program is of high priority to the company, the Congress, and other stakeholders. Our overall objective is to keep appraised of the company’s oversight of the program and identify potential risks, if any, to completing the program on time. Our specific objective is to provide stakeholders timely updates and information, where appropriate, based on our review of emerging issues.
