In August 2016, former Amtrak employee, David Davila, was arrested and indicted in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, for theft of Amtrak property. Davila was charged with taking Amtrak power tools and welding equipment to a pawn shop in exchange for money. He resigned from Amtrak upon his indictment.
