Mission

The Office of Audits conducts independent and objective performance and financial audits across the spectrum of Amtrak’s support and operational activities. It produces reports on those activities aimed at improving Amtrak’s economy, efficiency, and effectiveness, while seeking to detect and prevent fraud, waste, and abuse.

David R. Warren

Assistant Inspector General, Audits

Audits is headed by David R. Warren, Assistant Inspector General, Audits, with offices in Washington D.C., Chicago, and Philadelphia areas. Mr. Warren’s auditing career spans 40 years in the federal accountability community. He has held senior executive positions at the Government Accountability Office (GAO) and then the Special Inspector General for Iraq Reconstruction (SIGIR).

A lifelong Maryland resident, Mr. Warren attended the University of Maryland and received a degree in business administration. He is also a graduate of the National Defense University’s National War College; the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Seminar on Foreign Politics, International Relations and National Interest; and the Harvard University/John F. Kennedy School of Government Program on Leadership and Performance for Senior Executives.
