THEFT OF AMTRAK PROPERTY

On November 17, 2016, two former Amtrak electricians pleaded guilty in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois, to felony theft of Amtrak copper cables. Both defendants were sentenced to 2 years of probation and 30 hours of community service and ordered by the court to make restitution to Amtrak in the amounts of $7,002 and $9,612, respectively. This was a joint investigation conducted by the OIG and the Amtrak Police Department.
