UNAUTHORIZED LEAVE OF ABSENCE/FORGERY

On December 7, 2016, an Amtrak assistant yardmaster was terminated as a result of an unauthorized leave of absence. Our investigation confirmed that the employee forged the signature of a physician on multiple medical leave of absence forms. On October 22, 2015, the employee pleaded guilty to forgery and wire fraud charges, both Class 3 felonies, and was sentenced to 24 months of incarceration with the Illinois Department of Corrections.
