FORMER EMPLOYEE SENTENCED FOR FRAUDULENT RECEIPT OF PANDEMIC RELATED FUNDS

A former Amtrak carman based in Pontiac, Michigan, was sentenced on May 28, 2026, in the Circuit Court for the County of Oakland, to one day in prison, six months of probation and was ordered to pay $35,919 in restitution. Our investigation found that the former employee provided false and fictitious information to the Small Business Administration and to Bank of America in applications for Economic Injury Disaster and Paycheck Protection Program Loans. As a result, the former employee received $39,574.00 to which he was not entitled.
The former employee previously pleaded guilty to the charges on April 2, 2026.
