An Amtrak assistant passenger conductor based in Washington, D.C., resigned from the company on August 26, 2026, prior to his administrative hearing. Our investigation found that the former employee used credit cards he found in a passenger’s wallet that was left behind on a train to make unauthorized purchases. The former employee is not eligible for rehire.
