In September 2014, the OIG was informed that an Amtrak Auto Train Attendant improperly engaged in outside employment while on a medical leave of absence. The Amtrak employee was observed stocking vending machines for a business they own, while on medical leave (without prior approval) and drawing Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) benefits.
